When he first arrived, Bear was extremely overweight, anxious, and unsure how to navigate even the simplest everyday things that a dog his age should feel confident with. Life clearly hadn’t given him many chances to learn, but over the last few weeks, with gentle guidance and consistent work, Bear has begun to blossom.
One of Bear’s biggest hurdles has been feeling safe on a lead. We suspect he was rarely—if ever—walked, or may have had negative experiences when he was. With patience and stern yet positive reinforcement, he is steadily overcoming this fear and building trust step by step.
Bear is currently being tested with other dogs, and so far we haven’t seen any signs of aggression. He’s an active boy who thrives on human interaction, praise, and companionship. Because he forms strong bonds, Bear would suit a home where someone is around most of the time. We expect he may experience some separation anxiety or fear of being abandoned, so a family who can offer reassurance, routine, and stability will help him continue on his journey.
Bear truly is a good dog finding his confidence, and the right home will see him continue to flourish into the happy, loved companion he deserves to be.
