Adoption Fees and Information
These basic fees may be modified for multiple adoptions or other circumstances. All of our animals are desexed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, vet-checked and assessed.
How to Adopt
We only rehome to people we've met, so please come and visit us in person — but ring us first on (03) 9824 7928 or 0418 389 810 to check that your favourite animal is still available, except in the case where we have indicated, on the animal’s profile, that we are taking applications via email only. In some cases, where we ask for expressions of interest only via email, so as not to clog up our already very busy phone lines. In these cases, we clearly indicate this on the animal's profile. Our business hours are 9am-5pm and Animal Viewing hours 10am-4pm seven days/week. We're usually open regular business hours on Public Holidays but check our Contact page before each holiday to confirm.
Our Approach to the Adoption Process
Save-A-Dog Scheme operates as an adoption agency for our dogs and cats. We spend a substantial amount of time getting to know our animals and we try to match each animal's needs with the new home’s needs. We don't work on the same principle as purchasing from a shop or on a 'first come first served' basis. When you visit us, you can be sure we'll do our best to work with you to help find the right companion animal for your home and lifestyle.
Breeds, ages & names ... we do our best!
We rarely have a reliable history of the animals that come to us. The suggested breeds & ages are stated in good faith and based on our experience over nearly 30 years. Similarly, most animals arrive without a name tag so they're given temporary names. Feel free to choose a new name as your dog or cat will adapt very quickly!
