When Tommy first arrived at the shelter, he wasn’t quite sure what to make of his new surroundings or the people caring for him. It didn’t take long, though, for his true nature to shine through. With patience and gentle encouragement, Tommy has learned that people can be kind and the world can be a safe place. We believe Tommy hasn’t had much stability in his young life, which explains why he can be a little cautious when meeting new people or animals. He’s already shown lovely, positive interactions with some of the dogs here at the shelter, though he can feel uncertain around more dominant dogs — so calm, well-mannered companions are best for him. Tommy will thrive with an adult family who can give him structure, consistency, and the chance to keep building his confidence. With ongoing training, socialisation, and reassurance, Tommy will continue to blossom into the happy, trusting companion he’s meant to be.
