Meet Bread, a Shiba Inu who is very new to our shelter. Bread is a classic example of an older Shiba Inu — independent, confident, and with a bit of a stubborn streak. He’s not one to seek out affection or play with other dogs, and he certainly knows how to hold his ground. If another dog gets too close, Bread will confidently let them know that he prefers his space. While he's a bit on the chubby side and could definitely benefit from some weight loss, Bread still has plenty of personality and charm. He’s looking for an owner who understands the Shiba Inu breed’s unique traits and can provide him with the structure and care he needs. Shiba Inus are known for being strong-willed and sometimes aloof, so Bread’s ideal home will be with someone who has experience with this breed and can respect his need for personal space while also helping him get back to a healthier weight. Due to his independent nature and strong personality, Bread needs to go to an adult-only home where his needs and boundaries can be fully respected.
