Nightshade is a special little boy in more ways than one. His journey to this point has been one of resilience, determination, and second chances. Nightshade and his siblings arrived in our care as tiny kittens, desperately unwell with severe, untreated cat flu. Their future was uncertain, and they required intensive care, medication, and countless hours of dedication from shelter staff to help them recover. Thanks to that care, and their own fighting spirit, Nightshade and his siblings pulled through and blossomed into the happy, healthy kittens they are today.

When Nightshade was assessed by our veterinary team prior to desexing, they discovered a congenital abnormality affecting part of his reproductive anatomy. Despite thorough veterinary assessment, there are still some unknowns about what this may mean for his urinary system in the future.

The good news is that Nightshade is currently a happy, healthy kitten who is completely unbothered by his condition. He spends his days playing, exploring, and enjoying life just like any other young cat. While our veterinary team cannot predict whether his abnormality will cause any issues as he grows, his adopters should be aware that ongoing monitoring, and potentially further veterinary treatment, may be required in the future.

While Nightshade has come such a long way, he is still a sensitive little soul. He can be quite shy in new environments and will need patient adopters who are happy to let him settle in at his own pace. Once he feels safe and secure, his sweet personality begins to shine through.

One thing that gives Nightshade confidence is the companionship of other cats. He relies heavily on his feline friends for reassurance and security, so he must be adopted alongside one of his siblings or into a home with a friendly, confident resident cat who can help him adjust. Having another cat by his side will make the transition into his new home much less overwhelming and help him continue to thrive.

To help him feel safe and continue building his confidence, Nightshade is looking for an indoor-only home and would be best suited to adopters with previous cat experience who understand that trust takes time and are happy to let him settle at his own pace. He could happily live with calm, respectful teenagers, but a home with young children is likely to be a little too busy and overwhelming for this gentle boy at this stage of his life.
