Volunteer Application Form

Save A Dog Scheme have a wide range of tasks for volunteers to undertake at either the Glen Iris Shelter or our Yarrambat facility. Some of these tasks are physically demanding and may not be suitable for all applicants.

As Stipulated by the 'Code of Practice for the Management of Dogs and Cats in Shelters and Pounds' under section 59 of the Domestic Animals Act 1994, SADS requires all volunteers to have a recent tetanus vaccination.

There is a 3-month probationary period for all new volunteers. The hours of work are allocated and directed at the discretion of Save a Dog and any changes or cancellations to the volunteer program and allocation of shifts will be at the discretion of management. This includes the authority to cancel individual volunteer participation at any time. Save a Dog is not liable for any costs incurred by volunteers.

Volunteers are expected to be professional, conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner and are to follow the reasonable direction of Save a Dog staff members at all times. They are expected to carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner and to report any unsafe practices, hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses to a Save a Dog staff member as per OH&S policy. Volunteers are not to share any information about staff, other volunteers, the animals or members of the public without prior approval of Management. Volunteers should provide adequate notice if unable to attend an allocated shift. By completing and signing this form you understand that you are registering your interest in volunteering with SADS and will abide by the expectations detailed above.
