Boots is unsure of many things, especially when it comes to other dogs. He’s currently being tested, and what we’re seeing is not aggression, but fear and uncertainty. He simply hasn’t had the socialisation he needed growing up, and he’s still learning how to interact in a world that hasn’t always been kind to him. With patient guidance and slow introductions, we believe Boots can build confidence over time.
Once Boots gets to know his people and feels safe in his surroundings, he warms right up. He is affectionate, people-oriented, and seeks comfort and attention from those he trusts.
In his previous situation, Boots reportedly showed some food aggression around his bowl, likely a result of needing to compete for food or scavenge as a young puppy. Since arriving at the shelter, we haven’t seen this behaviour, but we want to acknowledge his history so his new family can support him appropriately.
Because of his insecurities, we feel Boots would be best suited to a home with adults or older children, and no toddlers. He will thrive in a calm, reassuring household that can offer stability, training, and plenty of love.
