Upon arriving at SADS, Rusty had 2 luxating / dislocating patella’s (kneecaps). Since December he has had 2 major operations on his left patella which have been successful at stabilising his knee and keeping it in place. Down the track, Rusty may eventually require surgery on his right patella to keep him pain free, however at the moment he is not bothered by his quirky legs as he was likely born with this, and therefore knows no different.
Rusty's Foster Home Says:
"Training Rusty would be extremely rewarding as he is a quick learner and highly intelligent. He adores people, so much so that he always needs be involved with the family and will require a lot of mental stimulation to keep him settled. Rusty is extremely friendly with other dogs and craves their interaction, however, is still learning basic canine manners and boundaries. It is possibly best if Rusty lives as an only dog as he is very active when around other canines, and this may not be beneficial to his hind legs going forward. Rusty would be a unique but fulfilling addition to the home, with much love to give his new owners. He is extremely toilet trained."
