Socks, a paralysed kitten, was discovered on a local building site where he had been dragging himself for quite some time, developing pressure sores from the constant contact with gravel. Trapped by a member of the public and brought to us, he was initially fearful and shutdown. A veterinary assessment showed some hope, as he still had proprioception in his hind paws and could move his tail.
Over the following week, with patience, mobility stretches, and improved nutrition, Socks showed remarkable improvement - he started to trust us, he could use his litter trays well, and could stand for short periods of time. X-rays have revealed a likely greenstick fracture in his spine, though the cause of the injury remains unknown.
Socks has since gained more strength in his spine and legs, and has been out in foster care, where he is constantly improving everyday. This little guy is now looking for his forever home, where he can lap up all the affection and finally be a part of someone's heart and a beloved member of a family. He is a curious fellow who does enjoy exploring his surroundings and has become more brave in his quest for people's attention .
Socks would thrive in a home with a friendly and calm feline who would be ready to share their space with him. He must live in a single level space. Socks is looking for a compassionate and devoted owner who would be around most of the time and is ready to provide the care and support as he adapts to his new life.
Socks would thrive in an adult only home, but could live with teenagers who were respectful of his condition and of his boundaries.
If you think you could provide Socks with his forever home after his rough start on the streets, please consider putting in an application for him, detailing as much information about your situation as possible!
