Adoption Fees and Information
Adoption Fees
These basic fees may be modified for multiple adoptions or other circumstances. Certain dogs and cats might have a slightly increased adoption fee. 100% of the adoption fees go towards the care of our shelter animals. All of our animals are desexed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, vet-checked and assessed.
How to Adopt
We welcome visitors to the Weir Street shelter, but please be aware that many of our dogs and cats may be in foster care or at our other premises and that unfortunately due to compliance restrictions the numbers of visitors to the kennels and cattery is restricted. Alternatively you can also fill in an adoption form. You’ll find all our animals for adoption, on the "animals for adoption" section of our website. Each animal has a link to apply for them under their description. Application meetings will be conducted by appointment only for successful applicants. We’re working hard to contact shortlisted applicants within 10 days to arrange an appointment. Applicants will only be shortlisted if they match the criteria set out in the animal’s description.
Our Approach to the Adoption Process
Save-A-Dog Scheme operates as an adoption agency for our dogs and cats. We spend a substantial amount of time getting to know our animals and we try to match each animal's needs with the new home’s needs. We don't work on the same principle as purchasing from a shop or on a 'first come first served' basis. When you visit us, you can be sure we'll do our best to work with you to help find the right companion animal for your home and lifestyle.
Breeds, ages & names ... we do our best!
We rarely have a reliable history of the animals that come to us. The suggested breeds & ages are stated in good faith and based on our experience over nearly 30 years. Similarly, most animals arrive without a name tag so they're given temporary names. Feel free to choose a new name as your dog or cat will adapt very quickly!
