MISSION ADOPTABLE IS HERE

This weekend at Save-A-Dog Scheme

Mission Adoptable is a special adoption initiative designed to create space in shelters so we can continue rescuing more animals in need. For us, this mission is just for our cats and kittens.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday ONLY

11am – 4pm

 36 Weir Street, Glen Iris

 Special adoption fee:

All cats and kittens are $50, Friday, Saturday & Sunday only to help make room for incoming rescues.

Adoptions will still follow our usual adoption process, we are committed to making sure every cat is matched with the right home, for both the cat and the adopter.
This is more than an adoption event.
It’s about relieving pressure on shelters, supporting rescue work, and giving cats the second chance they deserve.
Your new best friend might be waiting.

Join the mission. Adopt.

FAQ’s

How can you be sure these cats and kittens are going to good homes?

Every adoption is based on suitability. We take the time to match each cat or kitten with the right home. You will have the chance to meet them and chat with our team about their personality, needs, and lifestyle. A reduced adoption fee does not mean reduced standards. Our priority will always be placing animals where they will feel safe, loved, and able to thrive.

What’s included in the $50 adoption fee?

Each adopted cat or kitten will be:

  • Desexed
  • Microchipped
  • Vaccinated
  • Treated for worms and fleas
  • Vet checked

Are there any hidden costs?

No – adoption fees are clearly explained upfront.

Some cats or kittens may require ongoing medication or special care. If that is the case, we will discuss everything with you before adoption so you can make an informed decision.

What does the adoption process involve?

It begins with an adoption application, followed by a conversation, and a meet-and-greet.

We place strong emphasis on making the right match for both the cat and the adopter. While most cats simply need a patient, committed family and time to settle in, our priority is ensuring a suitable fit. We reserve the right not to proceed with an adoption if we believe it is not in the best interests of the animal. Our team will guide you through each step to help set everyone up for success.

How do I find out which cats and kittens are available?

The best place to start is the Save-A-Dog Scheme website, where available animals are listed. You are also welcome to call the team or visit in person.

Can I help if I’m not ready to adopt?

Absolutely. Alongside our adoption event, we will also be running a donation drive this weekend. If you are unable to adopt, you can still make a big difference.

We are currently seeking donations of:

  • Wet kitten food sachets – Whiskas or Advance only
  • Dry kitten food – preferably Advance or other premium brands
  • Canned adult cat food – preferably Whiskas or premium brands
  • Cat litter – Woolworths Smitten clay (non-clumping), Catmate pine pellets, or Breeder’s Choice recycled paper litter only
  • All-wormer tablets – preferably Milbemax or Milpro
  • Flea treatments – preferably spot-on treatments for cats and kittens and/or tablets like Capstar for Cats

Monetary donations are also always greatly appreciated and help us provide essential veterinary care, food, and supplies.

Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue caring for cats and kittens in need.

Can I place an animal on hold before the promotion and still receive the discounted rate?

Unfortunately, no. The $50 adoption fee is only available from Friday 21 February to Sunday 23 February. The promotional rate cannot be applied outside of these dates.

Why isn’t the adoption fee this low all the time?

We would love to keep fees this affordable year-round, but the reality is that adoption fees never fully cover the cost of caring for each animal – even at full price.

Fees help cover essential expenses such as food, shelter, daily care, and veterinary treatment provided while animals wait for their forever homes. Promotional events like Mission Impossible are made possible through careful planning and support, allowing us to reduce fees for a limited time while still maintaining high standards of care.
