Elmo was surrendered to SADS because his past owner, an elderly gentleman, was no longer able to look after him. His owner adored him — and his vets were very fond of him too! Elmo loves people and would make a wonderful companion. He's quite an active dog who has a tremendous way of entertaining himself (and us!) with his unique ball-playing antics (see the video here ). Elmo is good in the house and housetrained. He has had a mast cell tumour removed in the past and although the chances are very much in favour of it not recurring, people are understandably concerned about entering into an adoption — even in the knowledge that SADS will provide treatment should it be required in the future. He also has spondylitis of the spine and does not tolerate being patted around his lower back and therefore needs an adult home. Elmo definitely doesn't like cats and has an edge with other dogs and won't live with another canine, but he'd make a very special companion for someone seeking a canine soulmate. SADS has a full social and veterinary history of Elmo. If you can offer Elmo a permanent home, please ring us on (03) 9824 7928.
